Why Ray’s Approach to Women’s Health is Different: A Deeper Connection to Achieve Better Muscle Management for Sports or Relief from Stress and Pain Management.

As a male remedial and sports massage therapist, Ray has dedicated his practice to understanding the specific physiological and postural challenges women face. You might wonder why a male therapist chooses to focus so deeply on the female kinetic chain. To me, it’s about precision and results. I understand that women’s bodies often endure specific structural stresses—from pelvic alignment and hip tension to the shoulder strain caused by desk work or carrying children or bra straps digging into the shoulder muscles.

Ray doesn’t believe in "one-size-fits-all" pressure. Ray’s approach combines the strength required for deep sports recovery with the intuitive touch needed to calm a busy nervous system.


1. A Truly Comprehensive Full-Body Experience

Many therapists follow a standard "safe zone" protocol, often skipping areas like the anterior neck, hip flexors, or the full chest/pectoral muscles. However, for women, these are often the very anchors of tension.

  • No "Missing Pieces": Ray doesn't believe in leaving out areas just because they are complex. If your hip flexors are pulling on your lower      back, we address them directly, and that includes the glutes (Bottom muscle that a lot of massage therapists leave out in the massage)

2. Solving the "Root Cause" Puzzle

Pain is rarely isolated to one structure alone. Compensatory tension, restricted movement, and dysfunction in surrounding areas can significantly influence symptoms. As a sports-minded therapist, Ray looks at your body as a functional, complete system. If you have lower back pain, the problem might actually be your glutes causing it.

  • Releasing Compensations: When one muscle stays tight, others have to work harder. Ray identifies these "upstream and downstream" patterns to break the cycle of chronic pain.
