Find out more about functional massage.
Functional massage therapy is a specialised approach aimed at enhancing muscle performance, improving movement, and reducing pain through targeted techniques.
Mandatory Injury Safety
A GP report, physiotherapist referral, or scan is required before treating any injury. Massaging undiagnosed issues (such as muscle tears) can cause further damage. If a serious underlying condition is suspected, you will be referred to a medical professional to get a scan. Please be truthful when filing in health and consent forms with injuries or conditions you have had.
Definition and Purpose
Functional massage therapy focuses on optimising the function of muscles, joints, and connective tissues. Unlike traditional massage techniques that primarily aim for relaxation, functional massage is goal-oriented and tailored to address specific physical issues. It combines various techniques, including deep tissue massage, myofascial release, and neuromuscular therapy, to target the root causes of dysfunctional pain.
