“Not suitable for everyone. Book only if this session fits your requirements.”

The sports massage therapy is precisely what it claims to be. Ray addresses all muscle areas, extending beyond your typical remedial or sports massage, to release tight spots that others may overlook. Our muscles are spread throughout the body, and myofascial release is essential for alleviating tension in these areas, which is crucial for managing chronic pain and promoting a healthy muscle system.

The basic sports massage is to help release the muscle system and is designed for individuals who prioritise their health, but at a basic level. This is particularly suitable for athlete-style bodies due to the ease of stretching lighter legs compared to heavier limbs. It's not like a relaxation massage where you lie still, as in the session you get stretched as well as being massaged.

 (Athlete-style bodies only)

  1. Active release therapy (ART) is a soft tissue manipulation technique aimed at relieving tension, adhesions, and scar tissue in muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, and nerves. It’s typically performed by a therapist, who uses their hands to hold parts of the muscle as the limbs move.
  2. Myofascial Cupping.  can effectively lift the skin and superficial fascia from the underlying muscle. This helps break down adhesions (fibrous cross-links) and reduce fascial densification.
  3. Why tight workout bras can cause back pain and less circulation within the breasts of athletes. Click here for more information.
  4. The Therapeutic Circulation Breast Massage can be added, as most athletes wear tight sports bras, which can prevent circulation within the breast system. (This session doesn't have to be in this session, and it is not available to those under 18 years old.)

This massage encompasses the entire back and front of your muscle system, providing the best release from chronic pain for athletes and enhancing muscle performance for active individuals.

There will be a towel for you to use if you want. You may opt to wear a small G-string if you prefer, as full underwear can restrict access to the glutes, and I will not pull your underwear up to massage your glutes, as it hurts my fingers. (There is a disposable G-string to wear if you like, and you can take them with you when you leave)

You will experience stretching in various positions—lying on your back, front, and sides to achieve optimal muscle release. Myofascial trigger points will be targeted in areas you may not have realised were sources of pain.

Trigger point therapy may result in localised bruising, particularly in individuals who bruise easily or have increased capillary fragility. This bruising is typically mild and temporary and is considered a common side effect rather than a complication.

Review for a Hockey Athlete

Really excellent sports massage. Ray is professional, friendly, clear in his communication - and definitely the best massage treatment for sports injuries and maintenance I've experienced. I've had intense lower back pain and glute issues through playing high impact sport and lugging small children around, and Ray got into all the problem spots that are often not quite reached by other treatments I've had. Mobility increased, and pain reduced. The studio is warm and very well set up. Ray listens to what the issue is, and then treats accordingly. He communicates throughout the massage about what he's doing and why. Thanks Ray!
