Functional Massage Treatment

Functional Remedial Massage for best pain management

What is Functional Remedial Massage?

Functional massage uses a therapeutic approach that treats specific musculoskeletal problems, injuries, and dysfunctions. It combines various massage techniques with an understanding of functional anatomy and biomechanics to address the root causes of pain and discomfort. The goal is to restore normal function, reduce pain, and improve overall physical health as much as possible they can, but saying this, it's up to the body system and the client whether it happens, as other underlying issues may be involved.

$100 1 hour treatment.

$140 for a 1.5-hour treatment.

$60 for any report that needs to be written for the administrative review tribunal or a doctor, etc.

The pelvic floor trigger point release can also be within the Functional remedial massage if needed.

 Techniques Used

  1. Assessment: The process begins with a thorough evaluation of the client's posture, range of motion, and areas of discomfort. This assessment helps the therapist create a customised treatment plan.
  2. Functional Massage Uses Targeted Techniques: Therapists may use a combination of stretching, trigger point therapy, active release therapy and deep manipulation of fascia to release tension and retrain muscles and joints for better efficiency.
  3. Goal-Oriented Approach: The therapy is designed to enhance mobility, reduce stiffness, and improve overall muscle performance, making it particularly beneficial for athletes and active individuals.

Benefits

  • Improved Muscle Performance: By addressing tightness and breaking up adhesions in the fascia, functional massage allows muscles to contract and relax more effectively, enhancing flexibility and performance.
  • Pain Relief: It targets underlying issues causing chronic pain, such as muscle imbalances or trigger points, leading to lasting relief without relying solely on medication.
  • Enhanced Mobility: Functional massage techniques help restore mobility and improve the range of motion, which is crucial for both everyday activities and athletic performance.

In summary, functional massage therapy is a targeted and effective approach to improving physical function and well-being, making it a valuable option for those looking to enhance their movement and reduce pain.

You must send me by email any reports like X-ray, MRI, US for any surgery, injuries or pain you have been to the GP for.  Without reading your report/s, I would not consider taking you on as a client, as I have a duty of care to you.

Why Choose A Functional Remedial Massage?

Functional remedial massage is particularly effective for individuals with chronic pain, sports injuries, postural imbalances, and those recovering from surgery or trauma. Its holistic and individualised approach makes it a versatile and effective form of therapy for improving physical health and well-being.

Key Aspects of Functional Remedial Massage:

Assessment:

  • The therapist conducts a thorough assessment to identify the underlying issues, which may include postural analysis, range of motion testing, and palpation means the process of using one's hand or fingers to physically examine part of the body by feeling.
  • A detailed understanding of the client’s medical history, lifestyle, and specific complaints is obtained.

Individualised Treatment Plans:

  • Treatment is tailored to the individual’s specific needs, focusing on the areas of dysfunction and imbalance.
  • Techniques used may vary depending on the condition being treated and the client’s response to therapy.

Techniques That Can Be Used:

  • Deep Tissue Massage: Targets deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue to release chronic tension.
  • Myofascial Release: Involves applying sustained pressure to the fascia to release restrictions and improve movement.
  • Trigger Point Therapy: Focuses on releasing Myofascial trigger points that can cause referred pain in other areas of the body.
  • Sports Massage: Uses techniques that prepare the muscles for athletic activity, improve performance, and aid in recovery.
  • PNF Stretching: Proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) to improve flexibility and range of motion (ROM).

Focus on Functionality:

  • Emphasis is placed on improving the functional movement and performance of the client.
  • Techniques are chosen and applied to enhance muscle function, joint mobility, and overall biomechanics.

Holistic Approach:

  • Addresses not only the symptoms but also the root causes of pain and dysfunction.
  • Considers the client’s overall well-being, including factors such as stress, posture, and daily activities.

Ongoing Monitoring and Adjustment:

  • Progress is continually monitored, and treatment plans are adjusted as needed to ensure optimal results.
  • Clients are often given exercises and stretches to perform at home to support the treatment and maintain improvements.
